What are the Abortion Laws in Florida

Abortion in Florida is legal, however, there are certain restrictions on abortion procedures. Florida bans abortion at 15 weeks from last menstrual period and later.

Additionally, according to the Guttmacher Institute, in Florida the following are additional abortion regulations as of May 18, 2023:

  • Patients need to make two trips—one for in-person counseling and another at least 24 hours later for the abortion.

  • State Medicaid coverage of abortion care is banned except in very limited circumstances.

  • Parental consent or notice is required for a minor's abortion.

  • Only physicians can provide abortions.
