Helping Hands Parenting Program

The Helping Hands Program is an ‘earn as you learn’ opportunity where our clients receive educational, emotional and group support while learning how to successfully parent their new baby. As they learn, clients earn Baby Bucks to spend in our Baby Boutique where they can purchase some basic necessities for their baby. In addition, if they complete the entire 12 week program they are eligible to receive a new crib purchased for them by the Women’s Pregnancy Center.
This program was developed to create opportunities for ongoing mentoring with the young women and men who come to our Center. The program covers a variety of subjects designed to help our clients develop parenting skills while including opportunities for spiritual and emotional growth. Clients are free to share concerns and ask questions in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. We are dedicated to offering a comfortable and loving group environment where the love of Christ is exemplified in both Word and deed.
Education is provided by Women’s Pregnancy Center volunteers and special speakers from the community and area churches. We are always expanding our program and looking for volunteers and speakers who have expertise in areas that could benefit our clients. These are some of the areas that we currently cover in our 12 week curriculum.
- Bonding with Your Baby
- Infant CPR
- Shaken Baby Syndrome
- Car Seat Safety
- Seven Reasons a Baby Cries
- Family Budgeting
- How to continue your education while parenting
- Transparent parenting
Dads are also welcome in our program and we have special classes just for them.
