Adoption Support

Like most people, I had little understanding of adoption in 1999 when my teenage daughter, Ryan, became pregnant and began considering adoption for her unborn child. Though I knew some people who had adopted children and a friend who was adopted, it was not really pertinent to me. I began to educate myself and realized adoption is a complicated matter and can be difficult to accept. Through much prayer, my daughter did choose adoption as a “parenting plan”. And I began to see my daughter as a good mother for choosing two very capable, loving parents for her son, Grant, and giving him the stability she was unable to provide as a young, single woman.
One year after the birth of my grandson, I started a ministry at the Women’s Pregnancy Center: “Where Grace Abounds” is a support group open to anyone who has been touched by adoption including birth mothers, adoptive parents, adoptees and grandparents. This support group is an excellent place for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy to explore their options. All are welcome who are seeking encouragement and support regarding decisions (whether past or present) relating to the entire adoption process. This group meets every Thursday evening from 7:00-8:30 at the WPC. For more information on attending this group, call and ask for Tracy at 351-1294 for details.
