What Are My Pregnancy Options?

This is a big decision. Your unplanned pregnancy has already changed your life, but we know you are looking for answers to help you make the best choice because you're here reading this.

You have three options for your pregnancy: abortion, making an adoption plan, or choosing to parent. Let’s take a look at all three.

Abortion

Abortion is a serious medical and psychological decision. There are two methods of abortion, surgical and medical. The method is determined by how far along you are in your pregnancy.

The abortion pill is a medical abortion because it uses two drugs to terminate a pregnancy. The Mayo Clinic says, “If you're considering this procedure, make sure you understand what it entails, side effects, possible risks, complications, and alternatives.”

Currently, Florida legally allows abortion up to six weeks of pregnancy. There is an exception for women who are pregnant due to rape or incest. As you can see, knowing how far along you are in your pregnancy is vital.

Can You Accurately Date Your Pregnancy?

A limited obstetrical ultrasound is the best way to determine how long you have been pregnant. We offer no-cost ultrasounds to help date your pregnancy and protect your reproductive health.

Making an Adoption Plan

Your emotional feelings and thoughts about adoption are valid, but put those aside for a moment and look at the adoption process today.

An expectant woman or birth mother has complete control over the adoption process. You’re never asked to “give up” your baby to strangers. If you’d like, you can choose the potential adoptive couple and the environment you want for your child and meet the family before giving birth.

You are free to change your mind at any time up until the finalization papers are signed. If you work with a reputable adoption agency or lawyer, assistance may be available for living expenses such as food, rent, utilities, etc. Your prenatal, delivery, and post-natal costs are also automatically handled.

Depending on your adoption plan, you can continue to have contact with your child and their family. Choosing to place your child for adoption is hard, but it can provide a continuing relationship while you move forward with your life’s plans.

Parenting

No matter what anyone says, no one is prepared for parenthood. Every child is different, just as every situation is unique. If you are not considering parenting your child because you don’t have the financial resources or the assistance you would need, we can help.

We want you to be prepared and confident to parent. Women’s Pregnancy Center provides parenting classes for moms and dads and community assistance referrals to those who decide to parent their child. By participating in our classes, you can receive essentials, including diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, formula, and other necessities.

You won’t have to parent alone. We’ll be by your side.
